SampleUser2 Welcome To The New BikeLove!

A message from Jeremy Werst, Site Founder

It has been truly amazing to see how the website mplsbikelove.com has helped bring the community together over the last four years, but it is now time that we close the door on that chapter and finally make the move to bikelove.org, and start taking the lessons that we've learned to a wider audience across the state and across the country.

This is a development / beta site, mostly to show people how everything will fit together.  I am going live with the Minneapolis version first, but the idea is to share one user database across a network of sites that exist at a local level, city by city.  Eventually, I hope to have registration and login actually based off of maps, with you setting a 'home region' that you wish to view updates from.

I hope that everyone enjoys the new site and continues to use it as they did the old forum.  Thanks again for using BikeLove, this site would be nothing without the members that use it.

What I need your help with:

Cyclists:

Tell everyone that you know about the site.  See someone on the road?  Tell them about Bikelove! This is the single biggest thing that helps us continue to grow, and to be a valuable resource to the people that are out on the road day in and day out.

If you can become a donating member, I would appreciate that immensely, as well. It has taken a tremendous amount of time and energy to get to this point, if you feel like these new features are a benefit to your life, please think about giving something back.

Businesses:

Please use this great resource - if you are trying to figure out how to talk to cyclists in the Twin Cities, well, we've got a ton of them right here, and they keep coming back.  Post in the Forums.  Become a Site Sponsor or a Section Sponsor.  Take out a Week Long Site-Wide Banner Advertisement or a Section Specific Banner for even more targeted viewing. Ask us to List Your Events.

Our members are enthused, dedicated cyclists, ready to form deep relationships with you, far beyond what you can get through any other advertising medium.

Non-Profits:

As with the businesses, I firmly believe that the best thing that you can do to benefit from this platform is to actually use the platform and start talking with local cyclists.  Create an account and post up to let us know what you are doing, put your events on the calendar, etc.  Have your members check BikeLove often to find out what the actual pulse of the front lines is, so to speak.

One of my main goals with the new platform is to allow direct access to concerned cyclists on particular issues that are of concern to them, like proposed bike lanes along a commute, local legislation, long-term detours, things that individuals would be affected by on a daily basis.  To this end, I am developing per-project topic pages that any organization can use to publish detailed analysis on a singular topic, with a large suite of tools to communicate with our member base.  You can even email updates to members that have opted in, expanding your contact network to potentially reach all of our members!

If you would like to have an administrator account created for your organization to create these pages, please contact me and let me know the specifics!

Thank-you to everyone who has helped us get this far, I'm looking forward to what's coming next.
